The Children’s Centre in Wickham has now been officially named Merry-Go-Round Children’s Centre. A huge thank you to all who participated in choosing the name and logo. Yo Ho. It was Pirates Ahoy as the Merry-Go-Round Children’s Centre celebrated National Bookstart Day on Friday 10th October 2008. The event was a huge success as children and parents set sail for the Centre and made Pirate hats, flags, popcorn cones, decorated biscuits and dug for gold.
Jobey and Beth were each awarded a ten pound book voucher for WH Smith (donated by HCFF) for making the best pirate hats.
The Centre is working with Family Learning starting story box sessions on Monday 3rd November, 1.00pm – 3.00pm. If you have a child aged 0-5yrs come and join us. Bring your child’s favourite book or nursery rhyme and a shoe box.
Thursday 4th December 1.00pm – 3.00pm is the next date to watch out for. The Children’s Centre is having a Christmas Party. Come and join the festive fun, see Father Christmas, ice a cake, make a decoration and hang it on our tree. To avoid disappointment, please call in or telephone and book your place. Father Christmas needs to know how many children to cater for.
Calling all childminders. Come along with your children to a childminder drop in session on Wednesday 19th November 9.30am – 11.30am. Have some fun and see how the Centre can support you.
The Wickham health visitors are starting their developmental clinic from the Centre on Thursday 23rd October and the midwives will be starting a drop in ante-natal session for 1st time mums on the 2nd Tuesday of every other month starting January 13th 2009, 1.30pm – 3.30pm. We hope to be working more closely with our partners in health in the near future.

The Centre will be closed from Monday 27th October and re-open on Wednesday 12th November unless you are booked for the developmental clinic or the story box sessions.
