Year 4

Fairthorne Manor Trip – Years 4 and 5

On Friday, 9th May 2008 Miss Poil (Year 4 teacher), Mrs Harman, Mrs Jeffery, Mr Paice (Becan’s dad) and Mrs Tibbert (Natasha’s mum) took most of Years 4 and 5 children to Fairthorne Manor for the day.

Fortunately the weather was hot and the sunshine shone brightly for us.  When the coach arrived at Fairthorne Manor we were split up into groups depending on the first activity we wanted to take part in.

Most of the Year 4’s except Katherine, Natasha, Rhys and Joshua did the Team Challenge, an obstacle course you worked together in a muddy, fun environment. Then some did Burma Bridge, a skinny rope you had to walk along over a pond.  Whilst they were doing this, the rest of the children had a go on a massive Aerial Runway, which was over a river. This was brilliant fun, especially when you jumped off backwards.  After this, the Year 5’s group split up and either took part in Towers – another teamwork activity – or abseiling, where you walked down a wall secured with a harness.

After all this activity we returned to our bags and ate our lunch in a shady spot under a massive oak tree.  Everyone was really looking forward to lunch so it was almost silent as we munched through our sandwiches.

As we set off again to take part in yet more exciting activities, we split up into our groups.  Some groups took part in archery and Towers, whilst the rest were climbing or doing Burma Bridge.   The last activity was either raft building or kayaking.  These activities were both great fun, especially when we all jumped into the water!

We all had a great day at Fairthorne Manor!
